In 2013, Jeff Gunnell completed a 30,000+ square foot commercial office renovation for me in midtown Sacramento. The experience of working with Gunnell Construction for the first time exceeded my expectations – something which rarely happens.
My initial decision to select Gunnell Construction was based on the competitive pricing they provided. Pricing, however, is only one aspect of any project. Throughout the construction process, Gunnell Construction and their subcontractors delivered on their promise of providing quality work done on time and on budget.
Construction projects encounter unexpected conditions and a contractor’s fairness in pricing change orders affects the project’s final cost. Gunnell Construction’s change order pricing was fair throughout my project – I believe Jeff is personally responsible for ensuring my project’s final cost was as close to his original bid as possible.
My office project was done with the existing tenant working in the building. Gunnell Construction and their subcontractors performed all work with a minimum of disruption. They did a good job managing tenant expectations and performing work according to the schedule coordinated with the tenant. As a landlord, keeping existing tenants happy during construction matters – in this regard Gunnell Construction did an excellent job.
My first experience working with Gunnell Construction was a very good one. Next month I’m closing escrow on a 36,000+ square foot office project at Watt Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard. When it’s time to bid new tenant improvements, I plan on calling Jeff to bid this work.
